Will you please help me with Needle point & french knots?

by admin on December 3, 2011

Instructions for needlepoint kit say:
"1. Come up at A,…"
Come up at A? There is a diagram but instructions are not clear, What’s coming up at A?
Can you give me clearer instructions on how to make a french knot & place it in a Needle Point pattern?
Thank You,
Harry Gams

this video may be helpful: I think it is more helpful to see someone actually doing it………

You might want to look into "Colonial knots" as well. They are, in my extensive experience, easier to control than French knots, and have a more uniform appearance. The site in my source has a diagram that looks very straight-forward.

(You bring your needle up through a main hole on the canvas/cloth and go down a fractional stitch away. With canvas, this would be in the tight center square that forms between four main holes. With cloth, I usually go one thread diagonally from where I come up.)
